چگونه حیوانات به ماداگاسکار رفته اند؟!

یکی از قسمت های مهم  نظریه ارائه شده ، بررسی چگونگی توزیع حیوانات در سطح کره زمین بعد از طوفان نوح (انقراض عظیم کرتاسه در 65 میلیون سال پیش) و پس از پیاده شدن حیوانات از کشتی نوح می باشد. جزیزه دور افتاده مادگاسکار شاید مهم ترین قسمت زمین است که بسیار قبل از انقراض عظیم کرتاسه از آفریقا جدا شده است. اما چگونه ممکن است که حیوانات توانسته باشند خود را به این جزیره دور افتاده برسانند؟!

How did the lemurs, flying foxes and narrow-striped mongooses get to the large, isolated island of Madagascar sometime after 65 million years ago? A pair of scientists say their research confirms the longstanding idea that the animals hitched rides on natural rafts blown out to sea.

The question has always been how the animals arrived there in the first place. Madagascar appears to have been an island for at least 120 million years, and its animal population began arriving much later, sometime after 65 million years ago.

Moreover, the Madagascar study provided a test case confirming scientists' ability to model ocean and atmosphere interactions in a past greenhouse climate, Huber said. The National Science Foundation recently funded Huber to further simulate ocean currents in the Eocene epoch, roughly 39 million to 56 million years ago, using the methodology he applied to Madagascar

در حقیقت دانشمندان با انجام تحقیقات و شبیه سازی کامپیوتری میزان آب دریا ها، به این نتیجه رسیده اند که راه خشکی بین این جزیره دورافتاده (ماداگاسکار) و آفریقا بوجود آمده است و حیوانات زمانی بعد از 65 میلیون سال پیش توانسته اند که به این جزیره مهاجرت کنند.

همانطور که در شکل فوق توضیح داده شده است این مهاجرت در اثر راه خشکی بوجود آمده در حدود 62 میلیون سال پیش اتفاق افتاده است.

در حقیقت زمانی که خشکی ها به هم وصل هستند، توزیع حیوانات در سطح خشکی انجام می شود و لذا هنگامی که خشکی ها از هم جدا می شوند حیوانات در دورافتاده ترین جزایر نیز وجود دارند.
